The Brookside Farm Story

The legacy of Brookside Farm begins long before us, into the very early history of Southborough. Our story starts in 1855 with the original George O. Wilson homestead, recognized by the Southborough Historical Commission.

Back then, Southborough was known by its three distinct villages: Fayville, Southville, and Cordaville. Cordaville, where our homestead stands, was the industrial heart of the town. It drew its power from the Sudbury River to run the busy Cordaville Woolen Company. Mr. Wilson was a manager at the mill, which famously produced woolen blankets for Union soldiers during the Civil War. This land was part of a vibrant worker community, built on industry and hard work.

After Mr. Wilson, the homestead passed from one family to the next, each adding their own chapter, until the Deschamps family took stewardship of the property in 1964.

For decades, it was simply "home," a place for home gardening, raising a family, and putting down deep roots. Today, the second generation of the Deschamps family still lives on the homestead, honoring its long history while planting the seeds for a new one.

A new chapter began in 2024 with the establishment of Brookside Farm. The farm was born directly from our love of the land. Our personal home garden expanded, and so did our family's harvest of maple syrup, pickles, and dried herbs. With this garden expansion came a new need: we needed sturdy, durable trellises, planters, and other outdoor structures that could last. We decided to build our own.

We then realized that other gardeners and homeowners might be looking for the same handcrafted quality. So in 2025, we began offering these items for sale.

Today, each piece from Brookside Farm is handcrafted right here on the homestead, built with care to endure the New England weather and serve your garden for many years to come. We are proud to have our work in homes and businesses throughout Central Mass and into the Boston area, and we are always happy to discuss custom-quoted items.

It's a new legacy for an old homestead, built on hard work, inspired by the land, and rooted in love of God and family.
