BEEF
Having lots of pasture land not being used after selling our dairy herd, we purchased 3 beef cows with calves by their sides. We enjoyed watching the young calves romp on our fields, so what started out as 3 cows, has turned into a herd of 60+ animals. Our Black Angus beef are all natural, grass fed and free of antibiotics and hormones. We do not use any fertilizers on their pastures.
They are harvested at a federally inspected plant and dry aged for at least 28 days for added tenderness and flavor. You will find our meat, lean and delicious, cooked both inside or on the grill.

VEAL
Holstein bull calves are purchased at 3 to 5 days old weighing 94-110 pounds. Our calves are housed in groups of five in a heated, well ventilated and well lit barn. They are fed a high quality milk replacer twice a day. Their feed is supplemented with vitamins, minerals and iron per the recommendations of our nutritionist.
We do not de-horn, castrate or use any hormones. Animals are harvested at a federally inspected plant at a mature weight of 475 to 535 pounds. You will find our meat, light in color, uniform in cuts, tender and ready for you to season in your own special way....bringing your dinner guests back for more!

CHICKEN
Our broilers are Jumbo Cornish x Rocks. They arrive via the postal service from a hatchery in New England as newly hatched chicks eager to eat. The chicks are raised outside in a cage free environment and are fed an all natural grain - no animal bi-products. They love to eat and you will find them tender and meaty, making your favorite recipe a special treat.
EGGS
Our laying hens are Red Stars which produce wonderful large brown eggs for your enjoyment. Our hens are free to roam in a large fenced in area to protect them from predators. The hen house is available for them to use if the outside weather is not up to their liking. Like the broilers, they are fed an all natural grain containing no bi-products or antibiotics. We also have a small flock of Araucanas which lay a bluish/green egg. It is a real treat to find one of these in your egg carton!
TURKEY
Our turkeys are the broad breasted whites. They are fed an all natural diet and have their own section of the farm to roam around in. They are curious critters - checking out anything 'unusual' in their pasture. We love calling to them and watching them fan out their tail feathers and 'strut their stuff'! Our turkeys are very moist and meaty. We only raise for Thanksgiving and they sell fast. If you are interested in reserving one, tell us soon!
READY-TO-EAT-PRODUCTS
Brookside Farm also offers a variety of Ready-to-eat-products. They are made from our own meats & produce. They are fully cooked and ready to pop in the microwave at work, or heat up in the oven for a quick dinner at home. Currently we are offering Italian Meatballs, Veal Chili, Chicken Pot Pie and a variety of quiches. Come to the Farmers Markets early for the best selection!
